Environment

Brusan is a 'green' product made of recyclable-able materials which do not emit harmful vapors, chemicals or residues. It may also be re-used many times.

When burnt polystyrene emits harmful vapors, chemicals and makes a mess when cut to shape.
Safety

Brusan is very light (weighing 0.8 lb per square meter.)

Less risk of heavy falling objects lowers cost of insurance.

Makes it easier to prop up overhead structures to create ceilings and caves.

Wearing gloves while handling Brusan is recommended due to the fact that it is an aluminum foil based product and nobody likes paper-cuts.

Although no specialty equipment is necessary to cut or shape Brusan, we like to recommend using safety box cutters to virtually eliminate the possibility of cuts/wounds.

Being a heavier material it poses more of a threat as a falling object.

This also results in it being more expensive to insure.

Overhead structures require more work to hold up.

Hot Wire, Fast Wire, Blade Cutters, Hot Knife, Foam Saw: Foam cutters … None of those even sound close to being safe. Look them up, you'll see what they are.
Realism

Brusan provides a high resolution of texture and is able to hold sharp as well as dull angles

You can shape foam into very realistic backdrops but it takes a lot more time and effort to integrate intricate detail using cutting knives as opposed to just shaping it freely with your hands like you can do with Brusan.
Set Environment

Water Scene: Brusan doesn't propagate the soaking of water.

Its hollow shell characteristic provides easy access to tight places.

Creation of large structures on sets where doorways and corridors are small and tight is made simple.

Foam blocks are not hollow unless they have been cut to be so.

Therefore, you either have a block with no vacant volume behind the visual structure. Or you have a mess to clean up after cutting yourself a hollow structure. Either way you will never get the foam to be as thin as Brusan (~100 microns)
